International Circulation: You talked about that in AHA/ACC 2005 guideline for heart failure， there was even no section of treatment for hospitalized patients with heart failure. What is the reason?

Mariell Jessup:  There was not a section on the hospitalized patients until the update of the guidelines in 2009.  The decision to add this section on hospitalized patients was done because it is such an important part of the disease process.  We felt it was missing from the guidelines and we wanted to begin to formulate what was known and what wasn’t known so we added it to the guidelines.
